After moving from Los Angeles, Suzette Henry began thinking about opening Z bar & grille in Toronto. There had been no local place to grab a burger and a beer and she was ready to change that. After finding the location on Eglinton Hill she opened in 2006 as an American Bistro with burgers, salads, pastas and pizzas.
A few months pass before she teamed up with Jerkman Tommy, his barrel drum, his secret recipe for jerk chicken and his amazing touch. The Jamaican influence took off and quickly expanded to include jerk pork, oxtail, curry goat and stew chicken.
From the beginning, Z bar has been an affair of the heart. “When you walk through our doors, you are no longer simply considered a customer. You become part of the family". It’s the reason why, twelve years later, so many continue to arrive regularly…for that feeling of comfort, of recognition, of smiles and happy memories. It is why Z bar has succeeded. It is why we all still here and we still love what we do.
The eclectic atmosphere offers seating for 80 people, 2 pool tables, and the best Caribbean food around.
